The federal court hearing scheduled for Wednesday in the ongoing dispute between LSU and the Southeastern Conference has been continued and will be rescheduled for a later date.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, court documents state: “The hearing in this matter is continued. The court will reset the hearing by separate order.”
Thamel also reports that the situation between LSU and the SEC has generally de-escalated following LSU’s decision not to add players who had previously signed NFL contracts to its 105-man roster.
“There are still issues, but the temperature of the whole situation has cooled,” Thamel reported Wednesday.
The development comes amid an extraordinary dispute between LSU and the SEC over conference authority and player eligibility. The SEC had sought federal court intervention as the disagreement escalated.

While Wednesday’s hearing has been postponed, the underlying dispute has not been resolved and no new hearing date has been announced.
SEC presidents and chancellors are also scheduled to meet Thursday, with LSU’s membership and the conference’s ability to enforce its rules among the issues surrounding the dispute.
