LSU answered a lot of questions Saturday night.
The No. 10 Tigers overwhelmed No. 23 Texas A&M, 35-6, in Tiger Stadium, giving Lane Kiffin his first SEC victory as LSU's head coach and delivering an emphatic response following last week's loss at Ole Miss.
LSU dominated the Aggies statistically, piling up 506 yards of offense while holding Texas A&M to just 197. The Tigers averaged 7.7 yards per play compared to only 3.3 for the Aggies.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt delivered one of his best performances as a Tiger, completing 17 of 23 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns.
Jackson Harris was LSU's biggest offensive weapon with six catches for 163 yards and two touchdowns, including a 57-yard scoring reception on fourth-and-one in the third quarter. Winnie Watkins added five receptions for 107 yards.
But the biggest story may have been LSU's defense.
After struggling to contain Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed in each of the previous two seasons, defensive coordinator Blake Baker's unit shut down the Aggies. Reed completed just 10 of 26 passes for 106 yards with no touchdowns and an interception as Texas A&M failed to reach the end zone.
LSU improved to 3-1 with the victory.
Mike Scarborough, Preston Guy and the TigerBait crew break down the Tigers' dominant performance, Leavitt's night, Baker's defensive game plan, Kiffin's aggressive fourth-down decisions and what Saturday's victory could mean for LSU going forward.
