BATON ROUGE — That’s one way to respond.
A week after suffering its first loss of the Lane Kiffin era at Ole Miss, No. 10 LSU returned home and delivered its most complete performance of the young season, overwhelming No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 Saturday night in Tiger Stadium.
The Tigers took a 14-3 lead into halftime before blowing the game open with 21 points in the third quarter.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt finished 17-of-23 passing for 312 yards and two touchdowns, while LSU’s defense smothered an Aggies offense led by quarterback Marcel Reed.
The victory moved LSU to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in SEC play.
Following the game, Kiffin met with reporters to discuss the Tigers’ dominant response, the performance of his defense, Leavitt and what LSU showed coming off the loss in Oxford.
