SEC Power Rankings: Georgia takes control, LSU slips into the middle of the pack

Even though Georgia did defeat Alabama in last season’s Southeastern Conference championship game, Kirby Smart has not been successful in matchups against the Crimson Tide.

Entering Saturday night’s game in Tuscaloosa, Smart had a 2-7 record against Alabama. The Bulldogs edged the Tide 20-17 to move to the top of the SEC. After six weeks, Georgia is the only unbeaten SEC team after Texas lost to Oklahoma.
