LSU humiliated by Kentucky 42-21
With no shortage of pressure to register a much-needed win in Lexington, the Tigers still couldn’t get it done. And now Ed Orgeron’s seat is hotter than ever after the Tigers drop to 3-3 after with Kentucky blasting LSU 42-21.
Kentucky advanced to 6-0 for the first time since 1950.
“I'm not gonna feel sorry for myself. Never will,” Orgeron said. “We'll go to work tomorrow, just like always and plan against Florida."
Kentucky jumped out to 21-0 lead in the third quarter and never looked back. LSU was outgained by the Wildcats 475-408.
LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price had his best game of the season rushing for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 22 carries.
However, he was outshined by Kentucky’s potent rushing attack, which LSU just had no answer for. Kentuck rushed for 330 yards with 7.3 yards per carry. Kentucky’s leading rusher was Chris Rodriguez Jr. with 145.
Meanwhile, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis played a nearly flawless game going 14-17 for 145 yards and three touchdowns with no turnovers.
LSU quarterback Max Johnson turned in another serviceable stat line completing 22 of 38 pass attempts for 261 yards and a touchdown. However, he did take four sacks, including a sack resulting in a lost fumble.
"It freakin’ sucks, I’m not going to lie,” Johnson said of dropping to 3-3. “We’ve just got to come back to work on Monday."
LSU now moves on to what many consider the “gauntlet” of its schedule with its next games against Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama and Arkansas.
