LSU gets by UL Monroe 27-14
LSU (5-6) took care of business against UL Monroe 27-14 in a must-win game for the Tigers for an opportunity to preserve a winning season.
This sets the stage for LSU’s “win or go home” scenario against Texas A&M next week for the regular-season finale.
UL Monroe (4-7) actually had a few opportunities to make this a very close game. However, the Warhawks failed to convert twice on fourth down within two yards of the goal line.
Regardless LSU still outgained the Warhawks 411-311.
“I thought the defense played a heck of a game,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. “It looked sloppy at times, but we enjoyed the win.”
LSU quarterback Max Johnson led way for LSU’s offense going 22-33 for 319 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also added a touchdown on the ground.
LSU running back Tyrion Davis-Price added 82 yards on the ground on 21 carries.
Defensively, LSU Linebacker Damone Clark once again led the way with seven tackles alongside LSU defensive back Cameron Lewis.
“You have to give ULM credit, but that ain’t the standard around here,” linebacker Damone Clark said. “All around, we have to be better than that. Next week is a big game for us and we have to get back to the drawing board to have a chance next week.”
