There was never a chance Coach O would go out without some fireworks.

LSU upset Texas A&M 27-24 in LSU coach Ed Orgeron’s final game Saturday in a game that came down to the final seconds.

While most of the noise going into this game surrounded that of LSU’s alleged pursuit of Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley, LSU quietly preserved a streak of not having a losing season since 1999. Ironically, this streak is the second-longest in the country behind Oklahoma.

Of course, with LSU planning to accept a bowl bid with offensive line coach Brad Davis serving as the interim coach, the streak will again be in peril.

All of these distractions appeared to have no impact on LSU’s players who controlled the game for the most part outgaining the Aggies 412-296.

This game came down to the very end, with LSU getting the ball down four points with less than two minutes remaining. LSU quarterback Max Johnson‍  connected with receiver Jack Bech‍ on 4th down keeping the Tigers alive before subsequently leading the Tigers down the field connecting with receiver JaRay Jenkins‍  with 20 seconds remaining.

“I felt we were going to make the play the whole time,” Orgeron said. “Give it to the whole team. This is a great team win.”

“We were all made for this. This is why we came here,” Johnson said.

Johnson finished the game completing 22 of his 38 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Tyrion Davis-Price added 84 yards on the ground giving him more than 1,000 yards this season.

Notably, LSU's defense continued a hot streak limiting the Aggies to less than 300 yards with just 54 yards rushing and 3 of 13 on third down.

Linebacker Damone Clark once again led the way with tackles with ten. He finishes the regular season with an impressive 136 tackles.

“It was a good one I’ll never forget this one,” Clark said. “I love this team.”

“Geaux Tigers,” Orgeron said for his final time as LSU’s coach.
