Tigers handle weather delay and Little Rock
Friday was a long day at the park for both the LSU and Little Rock baseball teams.
Even though very little rain fell at The Box, the start of the Baton Rouge Regional opener was delayed 5½ hours. Understand the Tigers have become quite accustomed to this situation during the 2025 season.
LSU waited out the delay and then went out put together a rather business-like 7-0 victory over the Trojans.

The Tigers delivered a complete performance. Daniel Dickinson hit a pair of home runs, while four of his teammates – Jake Brown, Jared Jones, Derek Curiel and Michael Braswell – had run-scoring hits.
LSU coach Jay Johnson opted to go with Anthony Eyanson as the starting pitcher. Eyanson tossed 7.2 scoreless innings. Little Rock put a runner past first base on just two occasions against Eyanson.
Not to be overlooked was the Tigers defense, which played errorless ball. LSU’s infielders handled 12 ground balls without an error.
The Tigers scored in five of their eight innings. It was a good night for the entire LSU lineup. Ethan Frey was the lone Tigers starter without a hit. LSU once again stranded a few too many runners – ten with six in scoring position. Overall, the hitters did their job.
In the first, Brown put the Tigers on top with a two-out RBI single. Another two-out single – this one by Jones – gave LSU a 2-0 lead in the second. Dickinson’s first home run put the Tigers ahead 3-0 in the fifth.
LSU’s one multiple-run frame came in the sixth. Curiel doubled home Chris Stanfield, who had walked. One out later, Dickinson hit his second homer of the night. Doubles by Steven Milam and Braswell resulted in the final run in the seventh.
Eyanson had no trouble in registering his tenth victory of the season. He allowed just four batters to reach base in the first five innings.
The only time Eyanson ran into a little trouble came in the sixth and seventh innings. With two out in the sixth, Eyanson gave up a pair of singles. He then got cleanup batter Ty Rhoades, who had hits in his two previous at-bats, to ground out to Jones at first base.
Eyanson yielded a leadoff single in the seventh. He proceeded to retire the next three batters on infield outs – the last one fielded by himself. After getting two outs to start the eighth, Eyanson was replaced by DJ Primeaux.
The Tigers (44-13) will face either Dallas Baptist or Rhode Island in the winners’ bracket finals Saturday evening. The winner of that game will advance to Sunday’s championship round.
