Add another top Louisiana defensive lineman to the LSU roster as Darryus McKinley‍ of Lafayette (La.) Acadiana has announced that he's a Tiger.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman chose LSU over Tennessee, Florida and Texas.

“LSU is just the best place for me there’s nothing like it out there, the environment the brotherhood that is made into it the work ethic that’s they put into everything over there,” McKinley told TigerBait.   “They want to see you as a better person too not just on the field they want to see you grow better as a person and football player.”

McKinley joins his older brother Dominick McKinley who was a part of LSU’s class of 2024 and a starter on the Tigers defensive interior.

With McKinley’s commitment, LSU now has 18 commitments for the class of 2026.  He’s also the third Louisiana defensive lineman on the board joining Lamar Brown‍ of Baton Rouge (La.) University and Richard Anderson‍ of New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr.

He’s being recruited to to LSU as an EDGE rusher by Tigers assistant Kevin Peoples.

“It was always my goal to play in the SEC,” McKinley said in an interview with TigerBait this spring. “SEC ball is the best type of football.”

The Tigers 2026 class now has 18 commitments and is currently a consensus Top-10 recruiting class nationally.
